At the end of the year 2009 we decided to embark on a journey – a transformational journey that will propel JKR Sarawak towards better performance so that we can deliver high quality products and services. At the heart of every successful journey is the ‘road map’. In our case, the road map is our ‘strategic plan’.
I am therefore pleased to share with you our Sarawak Strategic Plan for 2011 – 2015. This strategic plan will help us achieve our new vision and mission by 2015 and, in doing so, we will recognized as the premier one-stop engineering agency in Sarawak. With this strategic plan, we will better harness and develop our core competencies which are underpinned by our core values.
We recognize that change is inevitable and is part and parcel of any organisation. JKR Sarawak was established in 1882 and thus is one of the oldest government institutions in the state. We have successfully carried out a lot of good projects for the people and have been spearheading the state’s infrastructure development through thick and thin. As time passes, there is a continuous need for change to suit the increased pace of development in the state and country. As such, this document represents our dreams and aspirations. We have committed ourselves to ensure that the transformation journey will be successful. To build a more professional organisation, there is a need to develop our employees as they are our most important resources. Towards this end, we will endeavour to inculcate continuous learning as a culture that will be deeply entrenched in the organisation.
JKR Sarawak has created many success stories in the public infrastructure and building sectors. But our success should not stop there. To be successful in the future, we must create the right environment with the right resources and be guided by well though out vision, mission and strategic plan. I hope every staff of JKR will read and digest this document, contribute towards the New Face of JKR and make the next few years an interesting, rewarding and successful journey.
